It was unseasonably warm for the end of October, so I took my guitar and digital recorder into the field at VCCA. I sat on the bench part of Craig Pleasants‘ sculpture, Heliotrope, and played a minuet by Henry Purcell for the birds and trees and haystacks.
So, below, for you, an imperfect recording of an imperfect live event.

More classical guitar music here.

Lucky birds, tree, haystacks — and us! Perfect just the way it is …
David Licata
Thank you very much, Randon. And lucky me, being given the opportunity to play for the birds, trees, haystacks and anyone who would listen at VCCA.

Gorgeous. I adore the birds singing backup…
David Licata
The birds kind of steal the show, if you ask me.
Thanks for the comment.

David, I listened to your music early on Christmas morning. Thank you for the gift.
David Licata
Thanks so much for listening, Duane. Glad you liked it. And thanks letting me know, too.

So nice! I agree, just as it is. Real. and instead of people coughing, birds.
Thinking about applying to VCCA in the visual arts. Could you perhaps tell me something of your experience? Would I feel out of place at 66? (But a young spirit!)
David Licata
Thanks for the comment, Elinore.
You should apply to VCCA, you won’t feel out of place. Every time I have been there it has been a very diverse group age-wise.
It’s a good place, very low key. You can be as social or unsocial as you like. I’ve always been productive there and I’ve always found people there I stay in touch with long after my residency ends.
Best,
David
