Seven Wishes for A Life’s Work

posted in: The Film | 2

If I had unlimited funds for the film (this itself is a big wish), what would be on the money-can’t-buy-it wish list?

7. End credits song: “This Old Guitar” by Neil Young *

6. Robert Zemekis and company’s permission to use a snippet of Contact. (The Jodie Foster character, Elie Arroway, as originally written by Carl Sagan and then interpreted by Zemekis, is based on SETI’s Jill Tarter.) *

5. Staged and filmed gospel choir rehearsal and performance seamlessly edited into the film.

4. Music by John Adams. *

3. The opportunity to make the sequel 20 years from now.

2. A screening attended by Paolo Soleri, Jill Tarter, Robert Darden, and David and Jared Milarch.

1. A screening attended by my parents.

* I suppose if I did have unlimited funds I could buy these, but I’m more interested in having their blessings than buying their “product.”

What’s on your wish list?

John Adams? As in the President John Adams?

I wish I could have an indestructible space craft with regeneration capabilities for me so I could travel the universe and watch stars form, solar systems spring into action and other civilizations form, live, die out and experience the wonders of the universe. Is this too much to ask!?

No, John Adams the contemporary classical music composer, wisenheimer. Check out “Shaker Loops.” I think you’d like it.

That’s quite a wish there. Too much to ask? I don’t know. If you’re going to wish for something, wish big. Why hold back, right?
