What Are You Going to Do at This Residency?

Friday I leave for my residency at the MacDowell Colony.  (Click and scroll down; I’ll be in the New Hampshire studio.)

You may be saying to yourself, “Dude! You don’t have any new footage, what the heck are you going to do there besides play ping pong?”

You’re right, no new footage. Ahhh, but there’s a plan.

Cabot and I edited essentially the first third of the film, a good solid 36 minutes or so. What I plan on doing for the next six weeks is constructing the narrative of the remaining two-thirds of the film from the sit down interviews. That will give me a good idea of what b-roll still needs to be shot (I hate the term b-roll) and what follow-up questions I need to ask the next time I visit the subjects.

That will keep me plenty busy.

If I have any brain cells left, I’ll work on the short story collection.

Also, I understand the MacDowell ping pong competition is fierce.
